Turkish comedy icon’s performance comes with strict phone-free rules
ABU DHABI – The Etihad Arena has issued detailed entry reminders ahead of Turkish comedy icon Cem Yılmaz’s highly anticipated stand-up performance in Abu Dhabi tomorrow.
The one-night-only show is expected to draw a packed crowd, with organisers urging ticket holders to familiarise themselves with venue rules well in advance. Guests have also been advised to arrive early to allow extra time for traffic, parking and security checks.
Cem Yılmaz, one of Turkiye’s most influential comedians, returns to the UAE with his latest stand-up show, following a series of sold-out performances in the region. The actor, filmmaker and writer is known for his sharp observational humour, cultural satire and fast-paced delivery, elements that have earned him a loyal following across the Middle East and beyond.
Phone policy
Etihad Arena has confirmed that the performance will operate under a strict device-free policy. The use of mobile phones, smart watches and any Bluetooth-connected devices will not be permitted inside the performance space. This includes texting, social media use, photography, video recording or phone calls.
Upon entry, guests’ phones will be placed inside a secure case. Once locked, the device will remain with the owner throughout the show. Anyone wishing to access their phone during the event must visit a designated unlocking station within the venue. Security staff will monitor compliance, and anyone seen using a device during the performance will be escorted out without a refund.
Prohibited items
A wide range of items will not be allowed into Etihad Arena for the show. These include flags of any kind, selfie sticks, outside food and beverages, musical instruments or amplification equipment, weapons, tablets, chairs, animals, perfume, fireworks, laser pointers, lighters and power banks.
Professional cameras, as well as audio or video recording equipment, are also strictly prohibited. Strollers are not permitted inside the venue, although designated stroller parks will be available. Guests have been reminded that no storage or cloakroom facilities will be provided, and all personal belongings are carried at the owner’s risk, with no venue liability.
Bags and access
Bag size restrictions will be enforced, with bags larger than 30 x 30 x 15 not permitted inside the arena. Accessibility access is available for guests with disabilities or other access needs, but accessible seating tickets must be purchased in advance to ensure appropriate arrangements.
There is no age restriction for the event, however, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 21 or above. Attendees are also expected to behave in accordance with UAE traditions and cultural norms throughout the event.
Tickets and entry
E-tickets will be scanned at turnstile entry, and guests are advised to download their tickets onto their mobile devices before arriving. All guests, regardless of age, must hold a valid ticket. Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable, and Etihad Arena reserves the right to cancel tickets purchased from unauthorised resellers.
The venue operates on a fully cashless basis, with contactless card payments accepted throughout. Apple Pay and Google Pay will not be available, so guests have been advised to bring physical credit or debit cards.
Organisers have reiterated the importance of arriving early to ensure a smooth experience, particularly given the additional procedures linked to the device-free policy.
